Jr Pacman High Score Board
The Jr Pacman Hi Score board adds a 10 name list of scores that displays during the attract mode and after every game. It uses a NVRAM to keep the scores so no more post it notes stuck on you arcade games. Switch from slow to fast by simply holding both start buttons and moving the joystick up or down. Here's some screenshots of the high scores from Jr pacman.
It works by sitting on the bus between the cpu and the board and modifying the data as needed, so it uses what ever ROMs you have installed. Did I mention it also works on Pacman? That's right, since this is a hardware hack not a ROM change you can install it on Pac-man too. It will work on Ms Pacman if you have the 6 rom modification to run the bootleg roms. It doesn't work with the original ms pacman auxillary board. The high score displays with Pac and Ms Pac are slightly different than the Jr.
Installation
Installation is extremely simple. Remove the z80 from your board. That's the large 40 pin chip near one edge. You'll notice a dot or notch on one end. That's to mark pin 1, there will be a notch on the socket to indicate pin 1 of the socket. Install the z80 in the high score board. Plug the hi score board into the empty z80 socket on your board, watch very carefully that you don't bend any pins over. Make sure the z80 is still oriented the same way as before. That's it, you're ready to go.
Instructions
The only thing you need to know to use it is holding both buttons and pushing up or down will change the speed of pacman. To clear the hi scores turn dips 1 through 6 off and boot it through the attract mode one time. The score at the top of the screen isn't updated until after the first game or the attract mode runs one time.
UPDATE: I just added a new feature. The jumper for save and clear that I wasn't using is now used to determine if pac is fast or slow when you turn the machine on. Save=slow and Clr = fast.
